We're Hiring: Project Engineer
๐ Crawley, West Sussex (Hybrid) | ๐ Full-time, Permanent
Are you a hands-on Project Engineer with a passion for working in aerospace engineering environments? Do you enjoy taking ownership of complex engineering challenges from initial design through to testing and delivery?
We're looking for an experienced engineer who can combine strong technical capability with project leadership, customer engagement and supplier management.

๐งWhat you will be doing as a Project Engineer at Unum
As Project Engineer, you'll lead and coordinate engineering activities across the design, development, testing and delivery of our aircraft seating products.
You'll combine hands-on engineering with project, supplier and customer management, acting as a key technical interface between Engineering, Programme Management, Test, FEA, Procurement, Suppliers, Customers and Integrators.

- Lead product and component requirements across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Maintain aircraft interfaces, clearances and design requirements.
- Review engineering designs and technical documentation to ensure programme, customer and regulatory requirements are met.
Analysis & Testing
- Analysis cabin space and ensure compliance to regulation
- Define and coordinate test activities
- Review results and drive design improvements where required.
Project & Technical Leadership
- Plan and manage engineering activities, priorities and deliverables against programme milestones.
- Coordinate design, testing, suppliers and production.
- Identify and resolve technical and programme issues, escalating risks where required.
- Longer term responsibility to coordinate engineering resources and drive assigned activities through to completion.
Commercial Management
- Provide engineering input to bids, cost estimates, procurement and commercial activities.
Customer & Integrator Interface
- Act as a key engineering interface with customers and system integrators.
- Lead engineering content for key programme reviews, including ITCM, PDR and CDR
- Build strong customer relationships and proactively resolve technical issues.
Engineering Area / Application Lead
- Own engineering deliverables for assigned areas or applications.
- Coordinate cross-functional support and ensure activities remain on schedule.
- Report progress, risks and issues to the wider business.
๐ง What we Look For in you as our Project Engineer
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
- Strong engineering design and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work at both detailed component and overall product level.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against challenging schedules.
- Effective leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, suppliers, customers and senior stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical and programme issues.
- Ability to take ownership and drive activities through to completion.
