PROJECT ENGINEER
BEDFORDSHIRE
£50-£55K
Ready to take ownership of exciting engineering projects from order through to successful installation?
We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join the projects team of a market-leading manufacturer of food processing equipment, supplying innovative solutions to the convenience and ready-meals food sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, responsibility and seeing projects through from initial concept to customer handover.
🔧 THE ROLE
As Project Engineer, you’ll take ownership of engineering projects from receipt of order through to successful installation, commissioning and close-out.
You’ll become the primary point of contact for the customer, working closely with clients, sales, engineering, manufacturing and other internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification.
The role is primarily office-based in Bedfordshire, with regular customer site visits. UK overnight travel and occasional overseas travel will also be required. You may also have the opportunity to oversee installations and manage subcontractors both in the UK and internationally.

- Develop and agree project scope with customers and the sales team
- Own and maintain project schedules and Gantt charts
- Produce project documentation, including Scope of Supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs and provisional layouts
- Specify and source bought-out components and equipment
- Manage project changes and maintain commercial awareness throughout
- Coordinate delivery, installation and commissioning activities
- Organise FAT/PDI and Site Acceptance Testing
- Coordinate packing, shipping and export documentation where required
- Prepare installation plans, book resources and produce RAMS documentation
- Coordinate customer training and documentation handover
- Work closely with customers and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure projects are successfully closed out and invoices are issued in a timely manner
👷 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in a similar Project Engineering role within a process engineering environment
- Experience within the food processing industry would be highly advantageous (but not essential)
- A proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects
- Strong engineering knowledge and problem-solving ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive, enthusiastic “can-do” attitude
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience using MS Project
- Proficiency in AutoCAD LT
- Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and pipework
- A basic understanding of electrical control systems would be beneficial
- A full UK driving licence

No two projects will necessarily be the same. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with customers, coordinate multiple departments, visit sites and potentially oversee installations both across the UK and overseas.

🕐 HOURS
- Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am–4:00pm
