About The Role
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Project Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of a major National Grid project in Canterbury. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of significant energy infrastructure works while developing your technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and project delivery experience within a growing and long-term sector.
Working as part of a resolute project team, you will support the delivery of enabling works and wider construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish or further develop their career within the energy market, contributing to a major scheme while benefiting from long-term career development opportunities.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the safe and successful delivery of project works in line with programme, quality, and budget requirements.
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day site activities across assigned sections of the project.
- Ensure all works are conducted in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and communication.
- Monitor site progress and identify practical solutions to technical and operational challenges.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of labour, plant, materials, and resources.
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation.
- Support the implementation and effective use of project delivery systems, equipment, and digital tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the sharing of best practice across the project.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams where required.
- Support the delivery of enabling works and associated infrastructure activities.
- Assist in ensuring sections of work are completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Experience in a Project Engineer role or a similar engineering position within the construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sector.
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure project delivery.
- Experience managing and coordinating site-based construction activities.
- Familiarity with project delivery equipment, systems, digital platforms, and Microsoft-based project management tools.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead by example and support the development of site teams.
- Initiative-taking approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Civil engineering experience is essential.
- Overhead Line (OHL) experience is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
- Ambitious and motivated individual looking to build a long-term career within the energy sector.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
