BMS Project Engineer

£42,000-£45,000 + Company Car + Bonus + Employee Ownership Benefits + Training and Progression + Pension

Location: Belfast

Are you a Project Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer with experience in BMS or building controls, looking to join a well-established business offering specialist training, long-term progression and the opportunity to take ownership of technical projects? Do you want to join a leading building controls company where you will work on varied BMS and HVAC projects, develop your engineering expertise and support projects from initial design through to handover?

This company has been established for nearly 50 years and has built an excellent reputation for delivering tailored building controls and automation solutions throughout the UK and Ireland. Their projects span Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial and Retail, with continued growth creating an opportunity to strengthen their Projects department.

In this role, you will work closely with the Project Manager, CAD team and workshop to coordinate the technical design and delivery of BMS projects. You will prepare technical submittals, review construction drawings, develop network architecture drawings and check electrical panel designs. You will also coordinate equipment deliveries, produce handover documentation and attend project meetings, deputising for the Project Manager when required.

This role would suit a BMS Project Engineer or an Electrical Design Engineer with relevant BMS experience who enjoys technical coordination and is looking to develop within a supportive, growing business.

The Role:

  • Prepare technical submittals, submit and review RFIs, and review construction drawings
  • Create BMS network architecture drawings and update design information for the CAD team
  • Check control panel drawings and electrical schematics, issuing drawings for approval
  • Coordinate deliveries of control panels and associated controls
  • Prepare and submit operation and maintenance documentation
  • Support CAD designers and the workshop with technical queries, attending project meetings as required
  • Assist the Project Manager and deputise during periods of absence

Primarily office-based, working Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-4:45pm, and Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm

The Person:

  • Previous experience within BMS, with an electrical design and engineering background
  • Knowledge of BMS products and systems, ideally Trend, Siemens or Tridium
  • Working knowledge of electrical CAD packages such as WSCAD, EPLAN, Promis-e or SOLIDWORKS Electrical
  • Experience producing electrical schematics suitable for manufacture, with an understanding of testing and fault-finding
