Cloud & Infrastructure Project Engineer

Overall purpose

As a Cloud & Infrastructure Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering customer-facing projects across Microsoft 365, Azure, infrastructure and related technologies. Working from approved Solution Architect designs, you will own implementation, troubleshooting, testing, documentation and customer handover, helping to deliver secure, supportable solutions and consistently high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical delivery from approved design through implementation, testing, documentation and customer handover.
  • Deliver Microsoft 365 migrations and implementations across Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Purview and Microsoft Defender.
  • Deploy and configure on-premises, hybrid and Azure infrastructure, including Windows Server, identity services, VMware virtualisation, storage, landing zones, governance, compute and networking.
  • Implement hybrid identity, backup and recovery solutions across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Coordinate effectively with Solution Architects, Project Managers, customers and support teams, communicating progress, risks and dependencies clearly.
  • Produce accurate technical documentation and handover materials to support transition into service.

What we need from our Cloud & Infrastructure Project Engineer:

You will be a confident, customer-focused engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technical delivery and solving problems methodically. You will be comfortable working with independence under general guidance, collaborating with customers and colleagues, and adapting to changing project priorities. You will bring strong communication, documentation and troubleshooting skills, with the flexibility to support client-site work and planned evening or weekend implementations where required.

Experience And Expertise

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering varied customer-facing projects independently in an MSP or professional services environment.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 migration, implementation and troubleshooting experience across Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Purview and Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience across Microsoft server, identity and core infrastructure services, including Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience deploying Azure infrastructure and platform services, including landing zones, governance, identity, compute, storage and virtual networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer communication, documentation and time-management skills.

Desirable:

  • Current Microsoft, VMware or Veeam certifications, or equivalent proven experience.
  • Experience with VMware virtualisation, SAN or NAS storage platforms, Veeam and Azure backup and recovery solutions.
  • Experience using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools such as PowerShell, ARM templates or Bicep.
