Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Project Engineer – XiDong Project who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Taipei, Taiwan ㄎand reporting to the Engineering - Roberto Errico.
About the Position:
The Project Engineer in the Railways System requires a combination of technical expertise, engineering management skills, technical resource allocation, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.
The person will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful design, interface management (between technical sub-systems), and implementation of complex projects.
Accountabilities:
Project Engineer
Technical Design, Project Delivery & Engineering Integration
- Technical Design & Work Package Coordination: Lead technical design, review technical deliverables, and coordinate with internal work packages (WPs) to ensure system integration and delivery.
- Technical Risk & Performance Monitoring: Monitor and control overall engineering performance, technical compliance, and identify project-wide technical risks.
- Assisting the GPM to monitor / coordinate technical activities in related work packages.

Technical Compliance, Standards & Requirements Management
- Requirements & Compliance Traceability: Prepare, update, and maintain the Technical Requirements & Compliance Matrix (including standards like EN/IEC, system specs).
- Technical Variation & Scope Assessment: Evaluate technical impacts of variation claims, changes in scope, and technical proposals.
- Assisting the GPM Contract Administration of Progress & Variation Claims, Invoicing and timely Payment Collection.
Technical Issue Resolution with Contracts/Sub-contracts: Assist the GPM with technical issues involving the contract and sub-contracts as necessary.
Customer & Technical Interface Management
- Technical Interface Management: Manage system/subsystem interfaces with the Interface Manager, suppliers, and client technical representatives to solve engineering conflicts.
- Client Technical Representation: Lead technical discussions and represent the team in engineering design review meetings with key customers and authorities.
- Technical Status Reporting: Prepare and present technical status, system performance reviews, and technical risk reports.
- Assisting the GPM to prepare the Monthly Progress Report.
Technical Communication: Demonstrate strong technical communication skills to translate complex engineering concepts for senior management, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Audits & Continuous Quality Improvement
- Technical & Safety Audits: Coordinate and support technical, engineering quality, and system safety audits.
- Technical Lessons Learned & Best Practices: Drive engineering continuous improvement by conducting technical postmortems and standardizing lessons learned into future technical designs.
Required Skills/ Knowledge:
- Strong technical expertise in railway signaling systems.
- Demonstrated experience handling high-complexity projects in challenging contexts, including multicultural and international settings, with a focus on multi-disciplinary technical aspects.
- Proven ability to organize and coordinate multiple, international remote teams effectively.
- Self-disciplined, proactive, and entrepreneurial, with a strong commitment to achieving targets and a rigorous work ethic.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial management, and risk assessment.
- Staying abreast of new technologies and innovations in the railway industry: Continuously seeking ways to improve design and efficiency.

Required Experience: 5-10 years in a similar business market
Education qualifications preferred: any Engineering Bachelor degree
