An established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in bespoke equipment for the food processing sector is looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to join its Projects team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Project Engineer with a proven track record of delivering engineering projects from initial order through to installation, commissioning and final customer handover.
The role is primarily office-based but will involve regular customer visits, UK overnight stays and occasional overseas travel. You may also be required to oversee installations and manage subcontractors on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Engineer will take ownership of projects throughout their lifecycle and act as the main point of contact for customers. Responsibilities will include:

- Agreeing project scope with customers and the sales team
- Managing project schedules and Gantt charts
- Producing project documentation, including P&IDs, BOMs, timing plans and layout drawings
- Specifying and sourcing equipment and components
- Managing project changes and customer requirements
- Coordinating equipment delivery, installation and commissioning
- Organising FAT/PDI and Site Acceptance Testing
- Managing packing, shipping and export documentation where required
- Planning installations and coordinating site resources
- Managing subcontractors and installation activities
- Preparing RAMS documentation
- Coordinating customer training and final documentation handover
- Maintaining commercial awareness and ensuring project invoicing milestones are achieved

About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in a Project Engineer role within engineering, manufacturing or process engineering
- Experience managing projects from order through to successful completion
- Food processing experience would be advantageous
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- A proactive, organised and practical approach
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Project
- Experience using AutoCAD LT
- Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and pipework
- A basic understanding of electrical control systems
- A full UK driving licence
Working Hours
- Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am–4:00pm
