Engineering services are delivered for the px group by the engineering consultancy division px Engineering Consultants Limited (“PXECL”). The team comprises of managers, senior engineers, engineers, and designers that have direct experience of construction projects and operating facilities, as well as exceptional engineering expertise.

PXECL has established an excellent reputation with its clients and consequently much of the business is of a repeat nature. The team prides itself on the quality of its services and the strong relationships it builds with its clients and has a track record of delivering an integrated range of services. By combining technical and operational excellence, a sound understanding of regulatory environments, and a robust and reliable project management system, px consistently delivers safe, efficient, and compliant capital projects and services to a diverse client base supporting most industrial sectors.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our team in the Stockton Office.

The primary function of the role is to provide delivery of defined engineering projects for a range of project types and phases to the highest standards, complying with legal obligations, px internal standards, and client requirements. Also, to support the development of proposals for new business opportunities.

You’ll be supported with personalized on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain and develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to execute engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with scope and schedule.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to confirm project objectives and deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between clients and pxE for all project-related issues.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, address engineering challenges promptly, and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure projects comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate and detailed project documentation.
  • Develop and review project proposals and plans to align with business objectives.
  • Review project scope, engineering schedules, and client specifications upon project handover and manage these deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with clients to understand and represent their needs and requirements in the field.
  • Gather and analyze project data to create status reports and contribute to regular project delivery meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in project engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices, and relevant industry codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of leading cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Strong analytical abilities to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes and industry trends, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience in engineering design within Concepts, FEEDs, and Detailed Design project phases.
  • Dedicated to fostering continuous improvement, accountability, and a results-focused culture, guided by measurable KPIs.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • Organisational, time management, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of DSEAR/ATEX, hazardous area classification, and related equipment design.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of Designer, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor under CDM regulations.
