Project Manager
The Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of research and development projects. They will work closely with technical leads, product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered effectively, risks are managed, and objectives are achieved. The role will support structured project delivery by facilitating planning activities, maintaining project governance, coordinating resources, and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Experience managing complex projects within an R&D, engineering, technical, or product development environment.
- Strong project planning and organizational skills, with experience maintaining project plans, RAID logs, and governance documentation.
- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Confident stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience leading workshops and project meetings.
- Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and project risks.

Desirable
- Project management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent).
- Experience delivering NPI R&D projects.
- Knowledge of stage-gate product development processes.
- Understanding of change management and continuous improvement techniques.
Project Planning & Delivery
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of R&D projects from initiation through to completion.
- Work with technical leads, product owners, and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, priorities, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, dependencies, and issues, and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are implemented.
Project Governance
- Maintain project governance documentation including project plans, RAID logs, action trackers, and status reports.
- Ensure projects follow agreed governance, stage gates, and delivery processes.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and senior management.

Delivery Support
- Support project delivery where appropriate by facilitating planning sessions, project reviews, retrospectives, and project checkpoints.
- Coordinate activities across multidisciplinary R&D teams to ensure alignment and delivery.
- Track project progress and communicate changes, risks, or updates.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as the primary point of coordination between technical teams, stakeholders, and business functions.
- Ensure stakeholders are informed about project progress, decisions, risks, and upcoming milestones.
- Facilitate workshops and project meetings to drive decisions and resolve issues.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of project delivery processes.
- Ensure key project decisions and outputs are appropriately documented.
