About the client
Our client is a leading international power cable manufacturer and installer, delivering High Voltage cable systems for transmission operators and energy developers across Europe and worldwide. Its UK engineering team designs, procures and executes complete land cable installation packages, from tender and contract through civil works and cable pulling to jointing and commissioning, working alongside specialist civil and installation subcontractors.
Project scope
The assignment supports the client's portfolio of High Voltage land cable projects across the UK, driven by the ongoing reinforcement of the national transmission network and the connection of new renewable generation. Projects cover a wide range of installation environments, including buried trenches, cable ducts, galleries, tunnels, transition joint bays and underground electrical substations.
The role sits within the client's main engineering team in London and covers the full installation engineering cycle: turning contractual specifications into a technical installation solution, procuring and steering civil and installation subcontractors, estimating costs and building the installation plan of work that feeds the project baseline schedule.
Role overview
To act as the technical reference for the elaboration, finalisation and execution of HV land cable installation solutions on UK projects, ensuring that each installation package is technically sound, compliant with customer specifications and HSE standards, and delivered on schedule and within budget.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
