Tela Technology is investing significantly in the growth of our Managed Services division, bringing together our technical expertise, customer-first focus and recent acquisitions to create a stronger, more capable MSP offering for businesses across the UK.
We’re looking for an experienced (MSP) Project Engineer to join our team at either our Hampton in Arden or Bromsgrove offices. As we continue to invest in our people, processes and technology, this is an exciting time to join our MSP team and play a key role.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role focused on technical project scoping and delivery.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Technical consultations: Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects; explain technical options and trade-offs.
- Designing and deploying IT solutions: Servers, networks, virtualisation, cloud infrastructure (Azure, M365), firewalls, backup systems.
- Infrastructure delivery: Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware), storage and backup/DR.
- Network configuration: Switches, firewalls (WatchGuard and Meraki; Cisco and SonicWall an advantage), VPNs, VLANs, wireless deployments.
- Security implementations: Endpoint protection, patch management, DLP.
- Security consultancy: Conduct and coordinate security assessments (Cyber Essentials, Microsoft Copilot, PCI-DSS; support penetration testing and vulnerability assessments).
- Scoping & planning: Collaborate with account managers to define scope, timelines and deliverables. Creating quotations.
- Documentation: Creating/updating documentation (network diagrams, configuration notes).
- Time tracking & reporting: Log hours and update stakeholders.
- Site visits: Perform installations or resolve complex issues that require physical presence.

About You
We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer (MSP environment) with 5+ years’ experience within a similar role, or a 3rd Line technician role (MSP environment) where project delivery has formed an integral part of responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have strong, hands-on networking experience, excellent knowledge of switching, routing, VLANs, trunking, LACP and STP, hands-on experience with WatchGuard and/or Meraki firewalls, experience with VPNs and wireless deployments, strong infrastructure experience across Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualisation and backup/DR, experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure projects.

CompTIA Network+, WatchGuard/Meraki or Microsoft certifications would be advantageous, but practical hands-on experience, coupled with a service-focus is our priority.
Location & Working Pattern
This is a hybrid role, based at either our Hampton in Arden or Bromsgrove offices, with travel to customer sites as needed. Remote working 1 day per week is available.
