Project Engineer — Project Controls Background
At Infinity Energy Engineering Limited, we are a fully independent Owner’s Project Management and Engineering Consultancy delivering safe, effective and owner-aligned solutions across the full asset lifecycle — from development projects and operational assets through to late-life operations and decommissioning. We support asset owners and operators across the UKCS and internationally, providing integrated Owner’s Project Management (OPM), project engineering and PMO services that help clients deliver projects safely, efficiently and with confidence. Due to continued growth and increasing demand from our clients, we are looking for a Project Engineer with a Project Controls background who wants to develop a broader role in project delivery.
The Role
Working within an integrated Owner’s Project Management team, you will support the delivery of Major Capital Projects and/or Brownfield Facilities Modifications for asset owner and operator clients. This opportunity is suited to someone with Project Controls experience who is ready to move into Project Engineering. We welcome candidates who want to build on their Project Controls skills, regardless of the number of years they have worked in the field. You will use your grounding in schedules, cost, progress, risk and change to help coordinate engineering deliverables, contractor activities and project interfaces. With support from experienced colleagues, you will build your understanding of technical and execution activities across the project lifecycle, from concept development and Front-End Engineering through execution, commissioning and handover. You will be organised, proactive and comfortable working with engineers, project managers, contractors and client stakeholders to keep delivery plans and project information aligned.

This role offers a route into Project Engineering for someone who can bring strong Project Controls discipline and is motivated to grow their technical coordination and delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project delivery through concept select, define, execute, commissioning and handover phases.
- Help coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, deliverables and interfaces against agreed project scope, schedule and client requirements.
- Contribute to Project Execution Plans (PEPs), integrated schedules, cost forecasts and progress reporting.
- Track actions, milestones, risks, changes and dependencies, escalating issues that may affect safe or predictable delivery.
- Work with engineering leads and contractors to understand deliverable status, priorities and constraints, and reflect these in project plans and reports.
- Support scope definition, change control, risk reviews and interface management activities.
- Liaise with operations, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders to maintain alignment on deliverables and execution plans.
- Assist with procurement, tendering and contractor performance monitoring where required.
- Participate in constructability reviews, HAZIDs, readiness reviews and project assurance activities as your experience develops.
- Support compliance with client governance, technical standards, Stage Gate and Management of Change (MoC) processes.
- Help prepare documentation, action trackers, engineering registers and handover records.
- Support offshore execution and commissioning activities where required and appropriate to the role.
- Promote safe working practices, with HSE at the centre of project decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across Infinity’s project delivery and PMO services.

Essential Requirements
- Practical experience in Project Controls, such as planning, scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, risk or change control.
- Experience supporting offshore energy projects, ideally within an operator, asset owner, contractor or consultancy environment.
- A clear interest in moving from Project Controls into a broader Project Engineering role.
- Ability to use project data to identify delivery risks, follow up actions and communicate progress clearly.
- Understanding of project delivery processes and how scope, cost, schedule and change interact.
- Strong organisational, analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proactive approach to learning technical and execution aspects of multidisciplinary projects.
- Commitment to safe delivery and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic project environment.
Desirable
- Exposure to Brownfield Facilities Modifications and/or Major Capital Projects.
- Familiarity with UKCS offshore operations, regulatory requirements or client governance processes.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors or contractors.
- Exposure to Project Execution Plans, Stage Gate reviews, procurement or commissioning and handover.
- Knowledge of offshore EPC/EPCI execution models.
- Professional membership or progress towards accreditation, such as APM.
