ABOUT THE CLIENT
We’re supporting an established IT solutions provider delivering infrastructure projects to customers across the education and commercial sectors.
Due to continued demand, they’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their Fareham-based team, taking ownership of technical projects from initial scoping and design through to installation, configuration, and successful handover.

THE PROJECT ENGINEER ROLE:
As a Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering infrastructure projects both remotely and on customer sites across the UK.

You’ll carry out technical audits and site surveys, scope requirements, produce technical design documentation, and implement complex infrastructure solutions. Projects will cover technologies including Windows Server, Hyper-V, networking, wireless, backup, and security.
This isn't purely an implementation role. You’ll also provide technical pre-sales support for new opportunities and act as a senior technical escalation point, providing 3rd Line support where required.
You’ll be comfortable speaking directly with customers, understanding technical requirements, and taking solutions through design, implementation, testing, and sign-off.
PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong IT infrastructure implementation experience
- Windows Server, Hyper-V, and SCCM
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Server and storage infrastructure
- LAN / WLAN networking
- Backup and recovery within virtualised environments
- Network authentication including RADIUS
- Firewall and web filtering configuration/troubleshooting
- Customer site surveys and technical audits
- Producing technical design documentation
- Strong troubleshooting skills across complex infrastructure environments

Experience within an MSP or technical pre-sales environment would be highly beneficial, alongside exposure to HPE Server & Storage, Aruba, Aruba Central, Veeam, Smoothwall, and SD-WAN. A full UK driving licence is essential, and you'll need to be comfortable travelling throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays. An enhanced DBS check will also be required due to work within the education sector.
