Project Engineer

Altrad are currently looking for a Project Engineer to join the team based in Renfrew.

The successful candidate will lead testing and equipment qualification projects across a range of engineering applications. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with project leadership in a dynamic testing environment.

Key Deliverables

  • Lead testing and equipment qualification projects from tender through to completion.
  • Design and develop bespoke test rigs and test setups.
  • Manage project safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Specify instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyse test data and produce technical reports.
  • Lead project kick-offs, toolbox talks, and stakeholder engagement.
  • To produce Test and Equipment Qualification technical tenders which meet our customers requirements, having clear capture strategies and which can be delivered safely on time and to budget.
  • Project Lead on Test and Equipment Qualification contracts ensuring that all technical and project requirements are suitably managed, addressed and delivered in a safe manner and within budget.
  • To lead project kick-off meetings, Safe Setting to work Toolbox talks and oversight of project activates carried out by other Asset Management functions.
  • To provide expertise in the field of Testing and Equipment Qualification in support of the Department’s activities.
  • To interpret client project requirements and specify test rig set-up, instrumentation and data acquisition needs to fulfil contractual agreements.
  • To carry out concept design and subsequent calculations on bespoke test rigs fabricated within the department to carry out component testing contracts.
  • To project manage allocated TEQ projects to safe on time and on budget completion.
  • Assist with the negotiation of and capturing of any contractual variations to the original defined work scope.
  • To ensure that all test contracts are professionally presented and always fit for visitor viewing.
  • To stop any work being carried out within bay/lab environments which is deemed not in-line with the standards expected.

  • BEng (2:1 Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and structural design.
  • Experience delivering engineering projects and producing technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of testing, instrumentation, and data acquisition is desirable.
