Project Engineer
Costain are working with United Utilities MSP (UU) on a multi-year framework agreement to provide overall management and execution of the larger-scale on-site asset maintenance activities across the Northwest region, including the provision and management of supplementary engineering services to manage and deliver diverse works.
The Project Engineer will lead on the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance projects across the UU region and develop key relationships with UU operational personnel, supply chain partners and promote a team spirit environment. The role will require experience of both design and delivery of water projects with the successful individual likely responsible for the concurrent delivery of a portfolio of small capital maintenance projects.
The role does offer dynamic / hybrid working. A "normal" week might consist of 1 or 2 days from the office, 1 or 2 days from site, and 1 or 2 days working from home. Candidates will need to be flexible around the demands of their individual projects and local client stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide whole life oversight and accountability for the successful completion of maintenance projects and services, through design, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and handover
- Ensure supply chain remain compliant with the framework management plan
- Drive a safety culture to ensure Zero LTI and RIDDOR Incidents
- Ensure a commercial focus with a high level of challenge on project scope and choosing efficient delivery strategies
- Ensure all stakeholders within MSP and United Utilities are engaged and supportive of the projects and services and their potential impacts
- Ensure consistent and reliable reporting of project/services performance into the MSP systems
- Ensure key project and programme risks are identified early, and mitigated where possible

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Previous experience of managing multidisciplinary projects including Civils and MEICA (preferably in the water sector)
- Track record of successful project delivery in a dynamic and regulated environment
- Awareness of construction forms of contract and practical application of these principles
- Ability to build trusted relationships with key client stakeholders, Supply Chain partners, within your team and across the Framework & Costain group
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
QUALIFICATIONS
Essentials
- Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering and relevant professional experience
- SMSTS qualification or IOSH Managing Safely
- Relevant CSCS card
- Driving licence
