Job Description
The Project Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination and delivery of infrastructure projects within a complex dockyard environment. The role requires a holistic approach to project delivery, ensuring that scope, schedule, cost, risk and technical requirements are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. Working within multidisciplinary teams, the Project Leader will provide leadership and direction to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer and business objectives.

The Project Engineering Lead will act as a key interface between clients, stakeholders, project teams and suppliers, facilitating collaboration and ensuring that project requirements are clearly understood, appropriately defined and successfully delivered. They will apply systems thinking principles to develop pragmatic and effective solutions to complex infrastructure challenges, whilst maintaining focus on project outcomes, governance and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Defining project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders and customers.
- Coordinate and drive engineering projects forward, ensuring delivery against schedule and scope.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical completeness, integration and delivery of project objectives.
- Support the development and scoping of new opportunities to maintain a robust pipeline of work and ensure an accurate and sustainable delivery forecast.
- Apply and promote practical systems thinking in support of infrastructure and facilities maintenance projects.
- Prepare and present project documentation, including reports, plans and decision records.
- Ensure risks and issues are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
- Contribute to design reviews, technical workshops and engineering governance processes.
- Act as a key interface between engineering teams, customers and stakeholders to maintain alignment and customer expectations.

Work Experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Professional project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent (or working towards).
- Relevant project delivery experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, nuclear, maritime, infrastructure, oil and gas etc.).
- Experience organising and supporting stakeholder meetings. Ability to engage with stakeholders, technical teams and cross-functional groups at all levels to understand their key needs.
- Understanding of the full project life cycle.
Desirable Attributes
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, delivery-focused mindset.
- Experience in design and construction phases especially in a dockyard or industrial infrastructure environment.
- Exposure to delivering projects across the full lifecycle – from start up through to completion.
- Awareness of engineering assurance and governance within a regulated or safety-critical environment.
- Knowledge of NEC4 contracts and project governance frameworks.
