ISS is looking for an experienced Project Estimator to join our growing Variable Works team supporting a major government contract.

About the Role

As Project Estimator, you will support the delivery of projects across a national government estate by providing accurate cost analysis, estimate validation, and commercial oversight.

You will be responsible for reviewing contractor quotations, assessing project costs, producing detailed pricing schedules, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and Schedule of Rates requirements. This is a commercially focused role that combines technical construction knowledge with strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and challenge third-party quotations and project cost submissions.
  • Assess project costs across HVAC, fit-out, building fabric, and refurbishment projects.
  • Validate labour, materials, plant, transport, and equipment hire costs.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and National Schedule of Rates.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans, and pricing schedules.
  • Support bids, tenders, and commercial submissions.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and take-offs.
  • Present pricing recommendations and cost summaries to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Undertake site visits to gather project information and support estimate accuracy.
  • Produce final quotations for project works.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in estimating, quantity surveying, cost control, or commercial management.
  • Experience managing or overseeing project budgets exceeding £1m.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, including HVAC, fit-out, and fabric works.
  • Experience reviewing quotations and validating project costs.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and market knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with construction-related health and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimating and project management software.
  • Full UK driving licence.
