Summary

Reporting to the Financial Performance Manager, as our Project Finance Analyst you will serve as a supporting analyst to senior delivery managers, assisting with financial data management, financial model construction, investment opportunity evaluation, and cost tracking against investment budgets.

In this position, you will be accountable for helping transformational departments analyse cost efficiency, challenging return-on-investment assumptions, and collaborating with project managers and key stakeholders to deliver optimised financial management solutions.

Additionally, you will ensure delivery departments optimise daily expenditure while effectively forecasting and tracking long-term financial benefits.

Main responsibilities

  • Support financial planning via standardised PMO templates and processes whilst adhering to accounting standards.
  • Provide financial analysis with insightful modelling to influence key business decisions, enhance operational efficiency and optimise financial performance across the business.
  • Support value creation by providing financial and commercial support during contract negotiations and the execution of commercial deliverables with SoWs.
  • Track and analyse financial key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, supporting insights that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support key business transformation initiatives, including IT/OT Asset projects, to enhance reporting capabilities and operational financial efficiency.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior management and cross-functional teams, translating complex financial data into manageable financial actions.
  • Advise and educate the finance team and wider business, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Supporting the finance team in adapting processes with new tools & technology to optimise and drive productive ways of working.
  • Help support the management of costs for continuous commercial efficiency in collaboration with project managers, procurement, and external suppliers to effectively manage costs.
  • Elevate the organisation's financial acumen by helping to design and deliver targeted training programs.

You'll need:

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Part Qualified Accountant is preferred with relevant practical experience within a PMO environment.
  • Recommended that the candidate is on the Accountancy Pathway (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with study package to support for ongoing completion.
  • The ability to review financial data to conduct in-depth modelling to then translate the analysis into clear actionable business insights for senior project & programme managers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to present financial information with authority and confidence, enabling you to clearly and concisely convey key variance commentary that is transparent for senior leaders.
  • Awareness of IFRS’s related to capital expenditure.
  • Ability to accurately perform NPV and ROI assessments.
  • An ability to track both cost and benefit commitments against quantifiable types such as cost reduction, cost avoidance and revenue growth.
  • Experience in supporting projects within a PMO environment to improve efficiency and help reduce costs, whilst helping to support multiple process improvement initiatives.
  • An ability to collaborate and synergize within the transformational departments whilst supporting a high-performance culture across the programme of work.
