About The Role

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Project Trainer to join our Regional Scotland team, supporting the Netherton Hub project in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

The Netherton Hub is a major infrastructure development in the North East of Scotland, requiring the mobilisation of a large workforce. This role will play a key part in managing high-volume inductions and delivering essential training programmes such as Making Safety Personal, Right to Respect, Plant and Vehicle Marshalling, and a range of Health, Safety, and technical training. By overseeing these critical training activities, the Project Trainer will enable our Operations and HSW teams to focus on their core specialisms.

This significant scheme comprises both HVDC and HVAC works, including converter stations, a switching station, and 400kV and 132kV substations. The project also includes the development of a new depot and extensive civil engineering works, such as earthworks, drainage, landscaping, access roads, and utilities.

This is a site-based role in Peterhead. Subsistence will be covered if a candidate is based away from home.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to ensure every worker, subcontractor, and visitor understands project expectations, safety procedures, operational standards, and key risks before being authorised to work.

Responsibilities Include

  • Deliver engaging, site-specific induction sessions for all personnel arriving on the project.
  • Provide safety briefings and essential mandatory training required for project personnel.
  • Deliver a range of Health & Safety training packages, using both internal materials and externally accredited content as required.
  • Deliver mandatory and role-specific training, ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards.
  • Assist with training coordination, including booking, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Ensure all training and induction records remain accurate, compliant, and up to date.
  • Help assess, manage, and deliver project-specific job-role training needs. Support audits, inspections, and training-related reviews.
  • Help develop and continuously improve training processes, systems, and e-learning materials.
  • Work with the wider Training Team to evaluate the effectiveness of training solutions and adapt or develop new materials when required.
  • Ensure you continue to develop your own skills and capabilities through ongoing professional development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
