Project HSE Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental activities across the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning stages of a major project.

Reporting to senior project and QHSE leadership, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing and continually improving the project’s HSE management arrangements. You will coordinate HSE professionals working across engineering offices and operational sites, ensuring risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

The role will also contribute to project-specific HSE plans, technical safety studies and assessments of facility performance under routine, abnormal and emergency operating conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and continually improve the project HSE management system in accordance with contractual requirements and recognised ISO and industry standards
  • Serve as the principal HSE contact for the project
  • Advise project leadership on health, safety and environmental risks, obligations and priorities
  • Manage HSE-related client interfaces and contractual deliverables
  • Build, lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary project HSE team
  • Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Work closely with environmental specialists to support environmental compliance and performance
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and high-potential near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented
  • Establish and oversee inspection, assurance, monitoring and audit programmes
  • Coordinate formal risk-management activities, including HAZID, HAZOP, risk assessments and hazard-and-effects management
  • Evaluate and manage the HSE performance of contractors and subcontractors
  • Conduct regular management reviews of project HSE performance
  • Coordinate final HSE close-out activities and reporting

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
