About the Role
Originally named, Great British Nuclear, Great British Energy - Nuclear is an arm’s length body of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, dedicated to supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear technologies in Great Britain. We play a crucial role in advancing nuclear new build, ensuring the UK’s energy security and achieving net-zero carbon emissions. Great British Energy - Nuclear focuses on fostering innovation, facilitating investment, and coordinating efforts across the nuclear industry to build a resilient and sustainable energy future.
Great British Energy - Nuclear’s first step was to start the technology selection process for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in 2023. SMRs can potentially be quicker to deploy and less expensive to build than traditional nuclear power plants because they are smaller, have factory-based modular manufacturing, and more flexible deployment options. In June 2025, Great British Energy - Nuclear announced that Rolls-Royce SMR had been selected as the preferred bidder to build the UK’s first SMRs, following a technology selection process that began in 2023.

Job Profile
The Project Integration Manager will support the Project Integration Lead in operating the Project Integration capability for the Gwyndod Project, helping the project to coordinate delivery activity across functions, contracts, and workstreams.
The role is responsible for managing defined integration workstreams and turning cross-boundary interfaces, dependencies, assumptions, actions, and decisions into clear, tracked, and actively progressed priorities.
Working across internal teams, enabling functions, Tier 1 contractors, and strategic workstreams, the Project Integration Manager will coordinate stakeholders, maintain visibility of integration matters, and support timely escalation where issues require senior attention.

The Project Integration Manager will typically be responsible for integration workstreams or cross-functional matters that are less high profile or significant than those led by the Senior Project Integration Manager, while still requiring strong delivery focus, stakeholder coordination, and attention to dependency, action, and decision management.
This role will work closely with the Project Integration Lead, Senior Project Integration Manager, and wider project teams to embed consistent integration ways of working, support project governance, and help ensure cross-cutting matters are progressed to resolution.
You will be joining a major first-of-a-kind UK SMR Project at a formative stage. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong delivery capability, confidence working with multiple stakeholders, and the drive to create structure, maintain momentum, and close gaps between contracts, functions, and workstreams.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Integration Lead and Senior Project Integration Manager in operating and improving the Project Integration capability for the Gwyndod Project.
- Manage assigned integration workstreams, interfaces, and dependencies across internal teams, enabling functions, Tier 1 contractors, and strategic workstreams.
- Identify, coordinate, and progress cross-boundary interfaces, dependencies, assumptions, actions, and decisions, ensuring ownership is clear and progress is tracked.
- Coordinate closure of cross-cutting actions and decisions by bringing stakeholders together, confirming accountabilities, tracking progress, and escalating blockers where required.
- Maintain clear records of integration issues, risks, opportunities, dependencies, assumptions, actions, and decision points for assigned areas.
- Prepare concise integration updates and inputs to support reporting, governance forums, and senior decision-making.
- Support the use and continuous improvement of Project Integration tools, registers, reporting processes, ways of working, and escalation routes.
- Work with Project Controls to ensure relevant integration inputs, dependencies, assumptions, and interface matters are visible within project schedules, contractor programme reviews, and the Integrated Master Schedule.
- Support gateway reviews, T Minus activity, assurance reviews, and related action close-out by coordinating inputs, tracking dependencies, and maintaining visibility of progress.
- Support the projectisation and integration of defined strategic and enabling workstreams by helping to clarify scope, ownership, milestones, dependencies, assumptions, and required decisions.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration for assigned integration matters, including internal teams, enabling functions, Communications, and Tier 1 suppliers where required.
- Work with Risk Management, Commercial, Procurement, Design Management, Systems Engineering, Technical Assurance, and Project Management teams to surface, coordinate, and progress cross-boundary matters.
- Provide task direction and support to Integration Analysts/Coordinators on assigned activities, while operating under the direction of the Project Integration Lead and Senior Project Integration Manager.
- Promote consistent project ways of working for cross-functional collaboration, supporting lessons learned, continuous improvement, and development of the long-term integration capability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required:
- Experience supporting or managing project delivery, integration, coordination, or cross-functional workstream activity in a major infrastructure, energy, nuclear, regulated, or government environment.
- Good understanding of major project delivery principles, including governance, assurance, dependency management, stakeholder management, risk and issue management, action tracking, and performance reporting.
- Ability to manage dependencies across multiple functions, contracts, or workstreams and maintain momentum on assigned integration matters.
- Experience using or supporting delivery frameworks, registers, reporting processes, governance arrangements, or cross-functional ways of working.
- Strong stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, bring people together, and support alignment across competing priorities.
- Ability to identify and progress unresolved assumptions, decisions, interfaces, and delivery risks in a structured and evidence-based way.
- Experience working with project controls, commercial, procurement, risk, assurance, or technical teams to support integrated delivery is desirable.
- Good analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify integration issues, and present clear, practical updates.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise reporting inputs, action summaries, and stakeholder updates.
- Experience coordinating tasks, supporting junior colleagues, or providing direction to analysts/coordinators is desirable.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and helping to create structure, clarity, and momentum in a developing project environment.
- Experience working with government project delivery frameworks, business cases, assurance gateways, or complex project governance is desirable.
- Experience in nuclear, major infrastructure, first-of-a-kind projects, or complex supplier environments is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Project Management, Project Delivery, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification in project delivery or project management and/or membership of a relevant professional body, such as APM, PRINCE2, PMI, MSP, or equivalent, is desirable.
- Government Project Delivery Profession accreditation or willingness to work towards accreditation is desirable.
