At Leonardo, we solve real-world engineering challenges, designing and developing mission-critical solutions that power some of the world's most advanced defence and security systems.
Your work will contribute to the development of the next generation Radar System for the European Common Radar System Mk2 (ECRS Mk2) programme which will deliver into the Typhoon fighter aircraft.
We are recruiting for a Project Leader to assist with the project management for the design and development of the Test Equipment required to support the ECRS Mk2 programme. The role will report to the Test Equipment Lead Project Manager and support the management team with delivering the key programme objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Management: Help to create, update and manage the underpinning work package schedules that will lead to the successful delivery of the Test Equipment required.
- Coordination: Reporting to the Lead Project Manager, support the incumbent Project Management team with coordination of project objectives across several internal functions including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Planning, Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial.
- Schedule Management: Close management of Work Package schedules within both Microsoft Project and the company’s P6 / SAP schedule management tools.
- Liaison: Close liaison with the Planning Function ensuring work package status constantly reflects the current position.
- Work Package Management: Support to Project Engineering Leads with Work Package Management.
- Monitoring and Control: Monitoring and Control of all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective actions required to tackle any deviations from the planned activities / budget.
- Dependencies Management: Identification and management of internal and external dependencies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Risk and Opportunity Management: Maintenance of Project Risk and Opportunity through the project lifecycle.
- Project Reviews: Conduct project reviews and make recommendations to appropriate business areas.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice across all project activities.

What You'll Bring
- Education: Typically educated to a degree standard in a business or engineering related discipline and will meet the requirements for registration as an associate member of the Association of Project Managers (APM).
- Experience:
- Exposure to all phases of the project execution life cycle.
- Experience interfacing with small to medium size Engineering teams through the transition from Development into a Production environment.
- Experience within engineering, planning, procurement, and/or finance functions would be advantageous.
- An awareness of supporting functions such as Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Configuration Control would be advantageous.
- Exposure and experience in all aspects of project planning, scheduling, work package management, and cost control.
- Ensure effective implementation of the company's Lifecycle Management process.
- Work closely with the Project and Engineering Management team to make and facilitate robust decision making within the project.
- Skills:
- Very strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What Else Would Help
- Tools Experience: Experience with using Teamcenter Unified. Experience with using Microsoft Project / P6 / SAP scheduling tools.
- Organizational Skills: The ability to keep track and manage a diverse set of activities with many interactions and dependencies.
Salary
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
