The job
One of our Principals is going on maternity leave. We need an experienced consultant who can step straight into live client work and run it. The role is for 6 to 12 months. If it works well for both of us, we'd like to talk about a permanent role.
About us
Bramble Intelligence is a boutique strategy advisory firm. We use our proprietary insight and evidence to help leaders in the food system spot opportunities, avoid risks and create value as the food system changes. We work with businesses to get ahead of disruption, shape their strategic choices and accelerate innovation.
Alongside the Bramble Investments team, our mission is to build a thriving food system that generates prosperity, restores the environment and provides nourishing food for everyone. We believe that the value in the food system of the future will be captured by businesses that share this mission.
We believe the food system is changing, fast. Consumer tools such as appetite-suppressing drugs, AI and diagnostics are reshaping consumer preferences and demand. At the same time, climate change, geopolitics and regulation are adding complexity to supply chains. And the societal imperatives to address health and environmental externalities of our food system are rising up the agenda. Our report Tomorrow’s Appetites sets out more on our view, and the companies making this real today.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We also believe business is one of the best ways to improve the food system at scale. When the commercial incentives align with positive outcomes, change can happen fast. A lot of our work is about finding those moments.
What you'll do
- Run two or three projects at a time, from the first hypothesis to the final board paper. You'll own the answer and the plan for getting there.
- Be the senior day-to-day contact for chief executives, commercial directors and boards. Sometimes that means telling them things they don't want to hear.
- Lead and coach our consultants. On a team this size, how you lead shapes the firm.
- Work with the partners on new proposals and on growing our client relationships.
- Add to our published thinking, if that interests you.
What you'll bring
- Seven to ten years professional experience, at least five of which at a top tier strategy consulting firm where you led teams, alongside industry experience.
- Excellent project management. You scope work well, plan it tightly, keep it on track, and bring the team and the client with you.
- A clear, rigorous way of thinking. You enjoy breaking hard problems down and backing your answers with numbers. You can build and challenge a commercial model.
- Creativity to problem solve.
- Confidence with senior clients, and a team that enjoys working for you.
- Clear writing. You can turn fifty pages of analysis into one page a chief executive will act on.
- A real interest in how the food system needs to change, and a view of your own on it. You don't need to be a food expert. We care more about how you think than what you already know.
- The right to work in the UK.
