An established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to take the lead on the delivery of a significant £20m+ construction scheme in Devon.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership, leading teams and building strong client relationships, while delivering high-quality projects safely, efficiently and commercially.
The business delivers a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial and Leisure, providing an excellent variety of work and the opportunity to be involved in complex and high-profile construction schemes.
The Opportunity
As Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a significant construction project from the current stage through to completion and handover, overseeing programme, quality, health and safety, commercial performance and client relationships.
- Work closely with established site teams, design consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders, providing clear direction and ensuring the project remains on programme, within budget and to the required standards.
- The role will suit a confident Project Manager with a strong main contracting background, who is comfortable managing complex projects and enjoys being closely involved in all aspects of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the delivery of a £20m+ construction scheme through to completion and handover.
- Lead, manage and motivate project and site teams, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Manage programme, progress, quality, health and safety and overall project performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Oversee procurement and subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to the required standards.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial performance in conjunction with the commercial team.
- Identify and manage project risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Chair and contribute to regular project, progress and stakeholder meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, construction standards and relevant legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a positive culture of safety, quality and collaboration.
- Lead the successful completion, commissioning and handover of the project.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong main contracting background and a proven track record of successfully delivering £20m+ construction projects.
You’ll have:
- Previous experience managing significant construction projects valued at £20m+.
- A strong understanding of the construction process from pre-construction through to completion.
- Experience working within sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial or Leisure would be advantageous.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop project teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial controls.
- Good knowledge of construction programmes, procurement and subcontractor management.
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A relevant construction qualification such as a Degree, HNC or HND.
- Current SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work.
