An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a major infrastructure scheme in Hereford.

This role is ideal for a motivated construction professional with a strong background in highways or heavy civil engineering who enjoys taking full responsibility for project delivery from pre-construction through to completion. You'll lead site teams, manage client relationships and ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a significant civil engineering project, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and commercial performance are achieved.

Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you'll provide strong leadership while driving programme, cost and operational performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the project from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Manage and coordinate site management teams, engineers and subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain construction programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor project performance, budgets and resource requirements.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely and in line with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Chair progress meetings and provide regular programme and commercial updates.
  • Manage contractual obligations and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to enhance project delivery.
  • Oversee project handover, commissioning and completion documentation.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering complex civil engineering projects for a main contractor.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience managing civil engineering or highways projects within a main contracting environment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and project administration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing project budgets, programmes and commercial performance.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple workstreams.
  • SMSTS and a full UK driving licence.
