Project Manager - 6 Month Contract

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Project Manager on a 6 month contract based in Wisbech.

Role Summary

We’re growing our UK business and have exciting opportunities for experienced and motivated industry professionals to join us as we continue our journey to help make clients successful. We have a specific opportunity for an experienced EPC project manager to join our team, working on a variety of transmission projects across the UK. The role will be primarily based at Walpole site. This role will fit within our EPC Group in the UK and be an integral part of the EPC delivery function. The role will be to manage projects of various sizes, working for our certified EPC Senior Project Managers following the client’s project execution systems and processes in the UK and US.

We are working on a range of projects across the energy transmission sector, supporting the UK to transition to a low carbon future with significant gigawatts of renewable electricity on the national grid. Our focus is on high voltage substations with some limited overhead and underground systems.

This role will be a key part of our UK EPC delivery group, bringing experience in managing the execution of projects for Transmission Network Owners. The geographical coverage will be Scotland delivering substation projects for SSEN.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on all aspects of safety and CDM compliance and understanding for EPC projects.
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of project execution for EPC Transmission projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with clients for projects you are responsible for.
  • Responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the client, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of EPC proposals and presentations.
  • Provide overall project management of EPC projects from concept to completion including coordinating the work of the support teams in engineering and procurement. The role will lead on value engineering and constructability reviews, and provide construction management oversight.
  • Mentoring others within the team.
  • Personal professional development and partaking in professional bodies and industry groups.
  • Ongoing development of industry relationships to assist with future project delivery, development of future project opportunities, and the client’s brand recognition.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a project team.
  • Will recognize the requirement and have the flexibility to meet the needs of a rapidly growing business.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.
  • Interact in a professional manner with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop bid stage technical solutions with partners and engineering team.
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of project execution under your portfolio in the UK.
  • Report to the Senior Project Manager / Operations Managers in the UK.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Provide regular reports on EPC project progress, cost and schedule, procurement, safety, environmental, risks, and other relevant issues.
  • Confirm deliverables and services are being provided to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Develop the project execution plans and other contract documents.
  • Support internal risk review process and approvals.
  • Manage project resourcing and advice on subcontractor and supply chain selection, working with the Senior Project Managers, Supply Chain Manager, and Construction Manager.
  • Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs working with the in-house project controls team and commercial team.
