MOD Contract Opportunities | Bristol
We are recruiting for a number of current Project Manager contract vacancies supporting MOD programmes in Bristol.
New requirements are released regularly through an established MOD delivery framework, with additional vacancies added most weeks. The exact programme, defence domain and project context will vary, although the core Project Management capability we are looking for remains broadly consistent.
These opportunities suit Project Managers across a range of seniority, from hands-on delivery roles through to more senior project and programme leadership positions.
For the right person, they offer the chance to work directly within an MOD delivery environment.
Contract lengths vary by assignment and extensions are common, with many people remaining on assignments beyond the initial contract period.
Contract rates
Rates are determined by the framework level attached to each requirement:
- Level 2 / C2: £250-£300/day inside IR35
- Level 3 / C1: £350-£400/day inside IR35
- Level 4 / B2: £500-£600/day inside IR35 (less frequent, require senior leadership experience)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Some vacancies may ask for additional experience within a particular defence domain such as air, maritime, land, digital or infrastructure. These requirements will vary as new roles are released.
APM qualifications or recognised equivalents are useful. Strong practical MOD Project Management experience can also be highly relevant where delivery capability is clear.

These are current MOD contract opportunities rather than one single project vacancy.
New Project Manager requirements are released regularly and the individual programme, domain and scope can change as further vacancies are added.
