Building and Civil Project Manager

FM Conway is currently recruiting for a Building and Civil Project Manager to manage a varied portfolio of building, infrastructure and civil engineering projects across our operational estate. As our Building and Civil Project Manager, you will oversee projects from initial identification through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality and within budget. This is a permanent, full-time position with travel between sites as required.

Duties

The duties of the Building and Civil Project Manager role will include:

  • Inspecting and assessing buildings, infrastructure, drainage, roads, utilities and external areas to identify defects, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Developing practical and cost-effective solutions and preparing scopes of work, specifications, drawings and project programmes
  • Managing projects from initial identification through to completion, including planning, procurement, delivery, handover and close-out
  • Coordinating internal works teams and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, to specification and within budget
  • Managing contractor procurement and tendering processes, including preparing tender documentation, evaluating submissions and monitoring contractor performance
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements, permits to work and relevant company standards
  • Managing project costs, variations, valuations and final accounts, while ensuring value for money and effective cost control
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, including RAMS, permits, as-built information, warranties, certificates and operation and maintenance records

Skills and Experience

You will have significant experience managing building, construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or maintenance projects, ideally within a large estate, construction, facilities or infrastructure environment. You will have strong practical knowledge of construction methods, building fabric, drainage, external works and general infrastructure, along with experience managing contractors and project budgets. A relevant HNC/HND, degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification is desirable, as are IOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS or NEBOSH qualifications. Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIOB, ICE, RICS, APM or IStructE would also be advantageous. You must have a full UK driving licence and be able to travel between sites as required.
