Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Filton, Broad Oak – Portsmouth, hybrid - 3 days on site, 2 working from home - this role might include travel to other BAE Southern sites

Salary: Up to £60,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

The Project Manager - Hybrid Navy will play a critical role in delivering innovative projects that support the Royal Navy's future Hybrid Navy vision. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you'll lead the planning, execution and control of technology demonstrators, concept studies, experimentation activities and customer-funded initiatives that are shaping the next generation of maritime capability. This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on project leadership with emerging technologies, working at the forefront of maritime autonomy, digital transformation and future naval operations.


Core duties:

  • Lead the delivery of Hybrid Navy projects, taking full accountability for cost, schedule, quality and performance while ensuring successful outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
  • Act as Control Account Manager (CAM), managing project budgets, forecasts, risks, opportunities and financial performance to achieve delivery objectives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Product Management and Business Development to drive project success and innovation.
  • Support the development of future Hybrid Navy opportunities through customer engagement, bid support, planning activities and the delivery of technology demonstrators and capability development projects.

Essential skills:

  • Proven project management experience within defence, engineering, technology or complex systems environments, with responsibility for cost, schedule and delivery performance.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance and controls, including experience managing risks, budgets, stakeholders and integrated project plans.
  • Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across matrix organisations and multidisciplinary teams.
