£60,000 (circa) + Excellent Benefits
Central London (Hybrid: 1-2 days per week onsite)

Our client plays a critical role in supporting Britain's rail industry, delivering services and solutions that help millions of people travel every day. As the sector embarks on a significant period of transformation and reform, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a high-profile programme team driving strategic change across the railway.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to complex, business-critical programmes that will help shape the future of rail travel in Britain.

The Role

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will support the delivery of a major transformation programme, working within an established PMO alongside senior programme and project management professionals.

You will be responsible for supporting delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring plans, dependencies, risks and issues are proactively managed and maintained. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, excellent organisational capability, and the ability to drive progress within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

This position offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of industry partners, suppliers and senior stakeholders while delivering projects that have a tangible impact on the future of the UK rail sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones and delivery schedules
  • Identify, manage and mitigate project risks, issues and dependencies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Coordinate activities across multiple workstreams and project teams
  • Lead and motivate project contributors to achieve successful outcomes
  • Monitor progress, track performance and provide regular reporting
  • Manage project scope, change requests and delivery priorities
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards
  • Support benefits realisation and successful project outcomes
  • Work within established project delivery frameworks and governance processes

About You

We're looking for a collaborative and delivery-focused Project Manager with experience managing complex technical projects and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You'll be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, balancing governance, delivery and stakeholder management while keeping projects moving forward.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing complex technical projects
  • Experience working within a recognised project delivery lifecycle
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and external delivery partners
  • Project planning, scheduling and resource management expertise
  • Budget management and cost control experience
  • Experience managing project scope, requirements and change control processes
  • Strong risk and issue management capability
  • Knowledge of procurement activities and supplier contract management
  • Ability to translate business cases into successful project delivery
  • Experience producing project reporting and governance documentation
  • Qualifications or experience in recognised methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile and/or Scrum

Desirable

  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, MS Project and/or Smartsheet
  • Experience within rail, transport, infrastructure, public sector or other regulated environments
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes
