Project Manager (Defence)

Location: London

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week onsite

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Project / Programme Manager to join a leading organisation supporting the delivery of some of the UK’s most significant and complex programmes across the Defence, Security and Justice sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a complex, technology-enabled environment, leading projects and programmes across digital transformation, operating model change, workforce transformation and large-scale technical delivery.

The opportunity:

  • Lead complex technology-enabled projects and major programmes
  • Manage project and programme delivery against scope, budget, risk, schedule and performance objectives
  • Support the design, mobilisation and delivery of large-scale transformation programmes
  • Coordinate business, technical and delivery teams across multidisciplinary environments
  • Establish and maintain effective project, programme and portfolio governance
  • Manage key delivery controls including planning, change management, RAID, progress reporting and financial controls
  • Manage programme risks, dependencies, issues and outcomes
  • Support digital transformation, operating model implementation, business analysis and agile delivery
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, clients, partners and delivery teams
  • Support business case development, bidding, estimating and proposal activities
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead, motivate and develop project teams to deliver against challenging requirements

  • Proven Project or Programme Management experience within a technical delivery, consulting, professional services or industry environment
  • Demonstrable experience delivering technology-enabled projects or major programmes
  • Experience working within Defence, Security or Justice, with an understanding of the operational and stakeholder environment
  • Strong understanding of programme delivery across scope, budget, risk, dependencies, schedule and outcomes
  • Commercial awareness, including business case development, financial oversight, delivery risk, commercial constraints, supplier ecosystems and the bid lifecycle
