Interim Project Manager – Engineering & Manufacturing

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Contract: 6 months initially, with potential to extend to 12 months
Rate: £500 per day via Umbrella
Working pattern: Monday–Friday, onsite
IR35: Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Interim Project Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Bournemouth.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a complex engineering project through the full product lifecycle — from the initial definition of customer requirements and design, through development and manufacturing, to delivery of the finished product.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing the development and manufacture of complex electronic and/or mechanical products, ideally within a highly regulated or technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
  • Manage projects from the initial definition of customer requirements through design, development, manufacturing and final delivery.
  • Establish and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and delivery objectives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing and operational teams.
  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and change throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, quality and customer-facing teams.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed timescales, budgets and technical requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, reporting and project controls are maintained.
  • Manage customer requirements and ensure they are translated effectively into technical and manufacturing deliverables.
  • Identify potential delivery challenges and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Provide clear project reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Support effective communication between technical teams, management and customers.
  • Ensure projects progress through development into production and ultimately to successful delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
