PROJECT MANAGER

💰 Salary: Competitive Salary + Package
An established and growing South Wales building contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their team, taking responsibility for some of their largest and most important projects across the region.
The successful candidate will manage projects typically valued up to £2.5m, working across sectors including healthcare, education, local authority, government and commercial. Projects can include refurbishments, extensions, planned works and construction within live environments such as schools and hospitals.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover
- Taking responsibility for projects valued up to approximately £2.5m
- Managing programmes, budgets, resources and project delivery
- Coordinating subcontractors, site teams, consultants and suppliers
- Managing projects within live environments, minimising disruption to clients and end users
- Working closely with clients, particularly within healthcare, education and public sector environments
- Monitoring progress against programme and ensuring key milestones are achieved
- Maintaining strong health, safety and quality standards throughout the project
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes and construction information
- Managing variations, changes and project issues effectively
- Working closely with the commercial team to maintain cost control and project profitability
- Identifying potential risks and putting solutions in place proactively
- Leading regular progress meetings and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders
- Ensuring projects are delivered to the required specification, programme and budget
- Managing the successful completion, snagging and handover of projects

What we’re looking for

- Proven experience as a Project Manager within a main contractor or building contractor environment
- Strong all-round construction background, ideally with experience in refurbishment and fit-out
- Experience delivering projects up to £2.5m
- Experience within healthcare, education, local authority, government or similar public-sector environments would be highly beneficial
- Comfortable managing projects in live and operational environments
- Relevant construction qualification such as HNC, HND, NVQ or degree preferred; SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications
- Based within a commutable distance of Pontyclun / South Wales and willing to travel across the region for projects
