Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate a high-profile project that supports the delivery of strategic objectives, improve services, and enhance outcomes for patients.
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a project from initiation through to completion, ensuring objectives are achieved on time, within scope, and to budget. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders across clinical, operational, and corporate services, building strong relationships and providing effective project leadership to support the project.
Using project management methodologies, data, and insight, you will identify risks, manage dependencies, and drive the project forward. You will play a key role in ensuring projects deliver measurable benefits and contribute to the organisation's future ambitions.

Main duties of the job
You Will
- Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of a multi-partner research and implementation programme.
- Develop, maintain and monitor project plans, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
- Coordinate programme governance, including Steering Group meetings, reporting and action tracking.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clinical, academic, commissioning and community stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, maintaining RAID logs and escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Oversee programme documentation, ensuring compliance with governance, research and information governance requirements.
- Support the implementation and evaluation of service improvement initiatives across participating sites.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, including collaboration with Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) representatives.
- Monitor project performance, prepare dashboards and reports, and communicate progress to funders and stakeholders.
- Manage project finances, including budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, invoice processing and grant claims.
- Support the development of data sharing agreements, DPIAs and other regulatory approvals required for programme delivery.
- Work collaboratively across multiple organisations to ensure successful project implementation and long-term sustainability of programme outcomes.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, management, and delivery of a high-profile research and implementation programme aimed at reducing inequalities in access to eye care services across London's underserved communities. Working closely with clinical, academic, operational, digital, and commissioning partners, the postholder will ensure the successful delivery of programme objectives within agreed timescales, budgets, and governance requirements.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination across multiple workstreams, developing and maintaining project plans, monitoring progress against milestones, and ensuring effective communication between stakeholders. They will establish and support programme governance structures, including Steering Group meetings, and will prepare reports, papers, and updates for senior stakeholders, funders, and partner organisations.
The role requires effective management of project risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions, ensuring that appropriate controls and mitigation plans are in place. The Project Manager will maintain programme documentation, action logs, RAID logs, and reporting systems to support successful programme delivery.
The postholder will build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including NHS organisations, Integrated Care Boards, academic institutions, community representatives, optometrists, and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) representatives. They will support stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, and implementation events to facilitate collaboration and the adoption of programme outputs into routine practice.
The Project Manager will also oversee programme finances, monitoring budgets, expenditure, forecasts, and funding claims, ensuring resources are managed effectively and in accordance with funding requirements. They will work closely with finance teams to track spend, process invoices, and provide regular financial updates to programme leads and governance groups.
In addition, the postholder will support compliance with research governance, information governance, and regulatory requirements, including the coordination of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), and ethics approvals where required.

Education, Qualifications And Training
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent experience
- PRINCE2, AgilePM, MSP, APM, or equivalent project management qualification
- Knowledge of NHS research governance and regulatory processes.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing complex projects or programmes within healthcare, research, innovation, or public sector environments.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across organisational boundaries.
- Experience of monitoring budgets, expenditure, and project finances.
- Experience of developing and maintaining RAID logs, action logs, and project documentation.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of information governance processes, including DPIAs and Data Sharing Agreements.
