Rail Infrastructure, one of three businesses within Siemens Mobility Limited UKI, is a leading UK rail industry provider. We offer a broad portfolio of solutions, including signalling, train control systems, fixed and mobile telecommunications, station management, electrification and integrated digital solutions, to help our customers deliver the best possible UK rail system.

The Role

The Project Manager leads Category C projects with the aim of completing customer projects on schedule, within the budget, with the required quality and to the customer's satisfaction, also considering other interested parties (stakeholders).

This role will act as the key coordination point between Sales, customers, and delivery partners, providing sub-project planning for Category A and B projects. It will be responsible for leading, directing, and delivering assigned work packages, while managing project activities and a small number of subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring allocated work packages or projects are delivered within the technical, legal etc requirements/standards and to the requirements of the allocated project(s) and budget and use the LoA tool for each project
  • Delivery of project(s) to (within) budget and specification, time, cost and quality
  • Supporting strategic viewpoints when managing the financial aspects of a project
  • Delivery of project(s) to laid down legislation and company standards, such as PM@Siemens, QM@Siemens and LoA
  • Interpreting financial project data analogues to project progress, considering demands of US-GAAP develops tax measures and implements them
  • Setting up efficient procedures/processes for project controlling and reporting that always enable an up-to-date overview of the project
  • Proposal Management - Develops the overall concept for the proposal, prepares the planning and tender costing according to valid guidelines. Identifies the necessary resources for preparing the proposal (incl. suitable and qualified partners/sub-contractors) and ensures their availability
  • Contract Management - Knows the customer's business and operations and considers them in any recommendations. Ensure customer satisfaction, constantly seeking out and responding to customer feedback
  • Responsibility for Results - ensures that the project runs to budget, profit and the required margin. Is aware of and in control of these figures at all times, and informs/updates other stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Holding regular project reviews with required stakeholders
  • Optimal use of resources (personnel and equipment/materials)
  • Building a success-orientated project team

Requirements

  • Experience of managing projects at a minimum of Project C classification
  • Experience/Knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies
  • Experience of leading and managing a project team which may include Siemens staff and sub-contractors, and some experience of project managing or working within a project team may be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience within the rail industry, and an understanding of project implementation, may also be beneficial
