About The Role
As we approach our 150th anniversary, we need your help to transform our building and create advocates for the planet. Our revitalised Museum will be at the heart of a global mission to find solutions to the planetary emergency.
The Natural History Museum is recruiting client-side Project Managers, who will work from the Museum’s Estates, Projects, and Masterplanning Department on a range of projects including New Galleries and Special Exhibitions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering multidisciplinary projects in Museums with a particular focus on Permanent Galleries and Temporary Exhibitions. You will ideally hold a formal project management qualification (APM PMQ or PRINCE2) and have a strong track record of applying structured governance frameworks. Experience including procurement, contract management, and coordination across teams is essential, ideally gained within a museum or heritage organisation. The role requires proven ability to manage resources and budgets, monitor and control costs, and consistently deliver projects to agreed time, quality, and scope. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital, alongside confidence in influencing, negotiating, and tailoring information for varied audiences. The successful candidate will show effective stakeholder engagement, collaborative team working, and a professional, flexible approach to managing change in a museum context. Competence in using Excel, Word, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling tools is also required.

Hybrid working
We are working towards a vision where both people and planet thrive, and nothing gives a greater connection with this, than seeing first-hand, the visitors, scientific research and collections that all of our work is inspired by and working side by side with the teams delivering the visitor experience and events. We also recognise the benefits and flexibility that hybrid working brings. We operate a hybrid working model that requires regular, weekly attendance for this role.
It is anticipated you will be required to be on site regularly (at least 3 days and at times 5 days per week) to engage with consultants, contractors and stakeholders both internally and externally. This may also include some out of hours working.
