Senior Site Manager / Project Manager

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester

Project: High-Rise Residential Development

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Employment: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing specialist construction contractor for an experienced Senior Site Manager / Project Manager to join their team on a major high-rise residential development in Salford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a strong background in high-rise developments, live sites, and firestopping/passive fire protection.

The successful candidate will take a senior role in the delivery of the project, overseeing site operations, subcontractors, and specialist trades while ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high standard.

About the Company

Our client is a specialist construction contractor with extensive experience across the UK, delivering works within passive fire protection, firestopping, fire doors, drylining, and building safety remediation.

They work across a range of major residential and commercial developments, including complex and high-rise projects. Their expertise is particularly focused around building safety, fire compliance, and delivering specialist packages to a high standard.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager / Project Manager to join their team in Salford.

The Role

As Senior Site Manager / Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of works across the high-rise development.

You will work closely with the client, main contractor, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of works across the development.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and specialist trades.
  • Manage programme, sequencing, labour, and resources.
  • Coordinate works across multiple floors and work areas.
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify any potential delays.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and approved methodologies.
  • Oversee firestopping and passive fire protection works, ensuring installations meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all works are fully compliant and appropriately documented.
  • Carry out regular quality inspections and monitor workmanship.
  • Manage QA documentation, inspections, photographs, and completion records.
  • Manage snagging and remedial works through to completion.
  • Liaise with the main contractor, client, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Attend progress and coordination meetings.
  • Ensure excellent health & safety standards are maintained across the site.
  • Coordinate works within a live/occupied environment, ensuring disruption is minimized and appropriate controls are in place.
  • Identify and resolve site issues efficiently.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior management.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Manager, Site Manager, Project Manager, or Contracts Manager with a strong construction background.

You should have:

  • Proven experience working on high-rise residential developments.
  • Experience managing live or occupied sites.
  • Strong knowledge of firestopping, passive fire protection, and fire compartmentation.
  • Good understanding of construction compliance and quality assurance.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work packages.
  • Strong organizational and programme management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of construction health & safety requirements.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

The following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Black/Gold Card or equivalent
  • First Aid
  • NVQ/HNC/HND/Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline
  • Relevant firestopping/passive fire protection experience or qualifications
