I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The main requirement is for established Project Managers although strong developing PMs with genuine delivery ownership can also be considered. The role is not aimed at PMO professionals, Planners or Project Controls specialists whose experience does not include direct Project Management accountability.

- Managing customer, supplier and internal stakeholder relationships
- Supporting formal governance, assurance and reporting

What we are looking for
The strongest candidates will be able to explain what they personally owned and delivered rather than simply showing exposure to defence projects.
Direct MOD or DE&S experience is particularly relevant although credible defence project delivery through industry can also be considered.
APM PMQ is preferred and current SC clearance would be advantageous. Previous SC rather than current SC is the minimum requirement.
Salary and location
£50K to £60K, depending on experience.
The roles are based in Bristol with approximately 3 days per week onsite. Candidates need to live within a realistic commuting distance.
