About the role
As part of our Asset Delivery function, you'll play a key role in the successful development and delivery of capital investment projects across our water and wastewater networks, treatment works, operational sites and environmental programmes.
Working collaboratively with sponsors, design partners, contractors, consultants and operational colleagues, you'll help ensure projects and programmes are delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably whilst achieving the required outcomes for customers, regulators and the environment.
What you'll be doing
Depending on the level you join, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting or leading projects through the full project lifecycle from definition through to handover and close-out.
- Managing project scope, programme, cost, risk and quality performance.
- Leading collaborative project teams consisting of Yorkshire Water colleagues, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners.
- Managing project and programme budgets, expenditure forecasting and financial governance.
- Administering and managing NEC contracts and commercial arrangements.
- Identifying, managing and mitigating project risks and change.
- Working with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely and in compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Providing leadership, coaching and direction across multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners.
- Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation and delivery excellence across our capital programme.

The level you join at will depend on the skills, experience, qualifications and leadership capability you demonstrate throughout the recruitment process.
Project Manager
You will have experience delivering construction, engineering, infrastructure or utility projects and be comfortable managing projects through the full lifecycle.
You will be confident managing project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and stakeholders whilst maintaining strong governance, commercial control and health and safety standards.
Typical scope:
- Leading capital projects from inception through to completion.
- Managing contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Managing project risks, finances and stakeholder relationships.
Senior Project Manager
You will bring extensive experience delivering major capital projects, programmes or portfolios within construction, engineering, infrastructure or utility environments.
You will have a proven track record of leading complex delivery teams, managing significant budgets and influencing senior stakeholders to achieve strategic business outcomes.
Typical scope:
- Leading complex, high-value capital investment programmes.
- Providing strategic leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Managing significant commercial, contractual and financial responsibilities.
- Driving programme performance, governance and delivery excellence.
- Coaching and developing project management capability across teams.

What we’re looking for
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Essential
- Experience within project, engineering, construction, utilities or infrastructure environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships.
- Budget management, forecasting and financial awareness.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Water or wastewater industry experience.
- NEC3/NEC4 contract experience.
- APM qualification or equivalent project management accreditation.
- CDM and construction health & safety knowledge.
- Civil, mechanical, electrical or MEICA engineering experience.
- SMSTS or equivalent site safety qualifications.

- 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday.
- Hybrid working model with approximately two days per week in the office and/or on site.
- Travel across Yorkshire will be required depending on project needs.
