Job Description
Overview
We are seeking Project Managers to join our team and support the successful delivery of highways and local transport projects across their full lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career within a leading consultancy, working on meaningful infrastructure programmes that improve how people move through places and communities.
Working alongside experienced Project Directors and multidisciplinary technical teams, you will gain broad exposure to project delivery while developing the confidence and capability to take on increasing responsibility. You will play a visible role in coordinating projects, engaging stakeholders, and helping teams deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
We know that different people have different priorities, which is why we're here to support you, with flexible and remote working a central part of our culture. So, talk to us about what's ideal for you – from reduced working weeks to buying more leave over school holidays. And if you're returning from a career break, ask us how we can help you transition back into work with us.
Our Transportation Division is currently seeking Project Managers in our Manchester office to support the delivery of a wide variety of multi-disciplinary highways projects within the north of England and the rest of the UK and Republic of Ireland. Using your excellent people, multi-disciplinary technical, and delivery skills, you’ll drive a variety of civil and structural designs for new build, renewal, maintenance, and assessment works.
You’ll be part of one of the largest transportation consultancies in the UK, and a leading supplier of engineering services to government, regulatory and local authorities, infrastructure owners and operators. Major clients include National Highways, Various Local Authorities, Network Rail, Design & Build Contractors, and other niche clients. We are looking to grow our project management / highways delivery and supervision capability in England, from where you will also have the opportunity to work with our internationally based design teams.
Ideally, you will have a background in civil engineering project management with design experience of the delivery of a range of multi-disciplinary projects within highway environments. You’ll be familiar with working in large, geographically dispersed multidisciplinary design teams on projects at varying stages of development from feasibility to detailed design and construction.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
