Project Manager – Contract

Location: Remote, Glasgow

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a leading international power generation and energy specialist on a contract basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically capable Project Manager with experience in power generation, energy, or construction projects. You will be responsible for managing projects from a technical, commercial, and operational perspective, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you will work closely with customers, suppliers, contractors, engineers, and internal teams to deliver successful projects while maximizing customer satisfaction and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of energy and power generation projects.
  • Take responsibility for the commercial performance and P&L of individual projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage customers, suppliers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and sign off supplier works in line with Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Manage contractual requirements, payment milestones, key dates, technical scope, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, Health & Safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with design engineers to ensure design deliverables meet project programmes.
  • Identify and resolve technical, commercial, and operational issues.
  • Plan and manage project resources effectively.
  • Monitor project risks, costs, progress, and performance.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across the wider business.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • HNC/HND or higher qualification in an electrical or mechanical engineering-related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' project management experience within the energy sector.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering power generation or construction projects.
  • Technical knowledge of reciprocating engines and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Experience of energy production and O&M operations.
  • Good knowledge of Contract Management, particularly NEC3 Framework Contracts.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project (MPP).
  • Experience working with CDM and UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results.
  • A full current driving license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Current CSCS card applicable to the role.
  • Experience working to ISO quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of current UK H&S, environmental, and CDM legislation.

What's Required

This role requires a flexible approach due to the nature of project delivery. You should be comfortable with:

  • UK-wide travel and occasional overseas travel.
  • Occasional weekend and out-of-hours working.
  • Working independently in a remote environment.
  • Undertaking mandatory training as required.
