Project Manager, Temporary (up to 2 years), 35 hours per week, £59,500
It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland.
After more than a decade of campaigning for legislative reform, the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2025 marks a fundamental shift in how legal services are regulated in Scotland. As we continue to deliver one of the most significant programmes of regulatory reform in our history, we are looking for a talented and motivated Project Manager to join our team.
This role will lead the planning and delivery of projects that support the Society’s Regulatory Transformation Programme. This includes implementing new regulatory frameworks for Authorised Legal Businesses (ALBs) and Licensed Providers, representing a significant change in the regulation of the legal profession by moving from a system focused solely on individuals to one that also regulates firms. The role will also support the introduction of new transparency, reporting and regulatory oversight requirements.
The role involves working closely with colleagues, senior leadership and external stakeholders to deliver policy and Rules, and to manage the delivery of operational changes that ensure these frameworks are clear, proportionate and workable in practice.
Working with colleagues across the Society, senior stakeholders and external partners, you will help deliver major regulatory and organisational change, ensuring projects are delivered effectively, on time and within agreed scope.
The role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the implementation of a new regulatory framework for legal services in Scotland, helping to shape how legal services are regulated in the future while improving outcomes for consumers, the profession and the wider public.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
