Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project: As delivery partner on the Ministry of Justice’s Capacity Programme, Mace’s team have been supporting the MoJ’s estate for more than a decade. The existing team has a proven track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of projects of the highest quality across the MoJ prison portfolio. You will be working on one the largest Mace programmes of works with an alliance framework contractor and established professional team. The projects incorporate the latest modern methods of construction and standardised processes.

This role is a great opportunity for a Project Manager to join a new Aftercare service within our growing Strategic Integration Team. Strategic Integration focus on continuous improvement, consistency, collaboration and knowledge to support our client and Mace colleagues across the whole portfolio of MoJ works.

Specifically, this role will focus on the aftercare period of projects. Working with good levels of autonomy, the role will be a blend of co-ordinating post-completion tasks and developing process improvement and standardisation initiatives to benefit the wider MoJ programme and beyond. Smooth handovers lead to smooth aftercare periods; the continuous improvement elements of this role naturally stretch it beyond just the aftercare period.

The role offers opportunity to candidates looking to apply their project experience and skills in a dynamic role with great levels of exposure and autonomy. You’ll employ a strong “finisher/completer” mindset to manage post completion defects and tasks to their conclusion. You’ll also work effectively as an internal and external consultant ensuring the collaboration and knowledge share needed to deliver measurable change through initiatives that bring continuous improvement and consistency in delivery.

We are searching for a highly motivated, proactive Project Manager to support our new Aftercare team. If you are searching for an opportunity to work in a consultancy team offering a unique variety of scope, great exposure, and opportunities to add lasting value, please register your interest.

The role entails hybrid working. Occasional attendance on site may be required and there is an expectation to regularly collocate with Aftercare and Strategic Integration colleagues in our London or Birmingham offices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
