Project Manager – Civils
Location: Gatwick Airport, West Sussex
Sector: Civil Engineering / Aviation
Employment: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civils Project Manager to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a programme of infrastructure works at Gatwick Airport.
The role involves managing multiple civils packages in a live airport environment, including alterations and extensions to existing infrastructure, demolition and enabling works, external works, and upgrades to operational facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to delivery and completion.
- Oversee site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage programmes, resources and project progress.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate surveys, demolition, enabling works and construction activities.
- Liaise with the client, design teams and other key stakeholders.
- Manage works within a live, operational airport environment.
- Ensure compliance with H&S, RAMS and site procedures.
- Work closely with commercial teams to monitor costs, variations and project performance.

Requirements:
- Strong background within civil engineering and infrastructure.
- Previous experience operating at Project Manager level, although we would also consider an experienced Senior Site Manager who is ready to step up into a Project Manager position.
- Experience delivering civils, infrastructure, utilities, demolition or external works projects.
- Comfortable managing multiple work packages/projects simultaneously.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Airport/airside experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Relevant construction qualifications and certifications.

Airport Security Requirements:
Due to the nature and location of the works, the successful candidate will be required to complete the necessary airport security clearance process. This will include a DBS check and satisfactory five-year employment/referencing history.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with ongoing work at Gatwick Airport and take responsibility for a varied portfolio of civil engineering projects.
