Defence Project Manager

Bristol | Up to 3 days per week onsite at MOD Abbey Wood
Multiple vacancies | MOD Levels 2 and 3

We are recruiting multiple Project Managers to support project delivery within a complex UK defence environment.

These are delivery-focused Project Manager roles. We need people who can demonstrate genuine ownership of defence projects, work packages or control accounts rather than PMO administration, specialist Project Controls work or general stakeholder coordination.

Essential requirements

Before applying, please check that you meet the following requirements:

  • You must have substantive defence project management experience
  • You must hold sole British nationality due to the security requirements attached to this work. Dual nationals cannot be considered
  • You must be able to attend MOD Abbey Wood in Bristol up to 3 days every week
  • You must live within a genuinely sustainable commuting distance of Bristol
  • You must previously have held UK Security Check (SC) clearance
  • You must hold a recognised project management qualification

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Working within formal governance, reporting and assurance arrangements
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders across customer, supplier and functional teams
  • Using project performance information to identify variance and support corrective action

What we are looking for

For Level 3 positions, we are particularly interested in established Project Managers who can demonstrate clear accountability for delivery decisions, customer relationships, project performance and cross-functional dependencies.

Level 2 candidates should still show genuine practitioner-level ownership of a simple project, work package, control account or clearly defined delivery area.

APM PMQ is particularly desirable for Level 3 applicants. Direct MOD or DE&S project delivery experience and familiarity with defence acquisition environments would also be beneficial.

If your background matches the essential requirements above, apply with your CV for consideration.
