Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of technology-based research and innovation projects across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role will be based within the Business Development and Innovation Team in the Research and Innovation Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering projects to a high professional standard, within agreed timescales, budgets, and quality requirements, using structured project and change-management methodologies such as PRINCE2. This exciting role will include support to the IMPACT MED project, a major, EU-funded European research project, which aims to transform the treatment of diabetes in young people.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing complex projects within a large organisation, ideally in an NHS or clinical environment, with a strong understanding of technology implementation and change management. They will be confident introducing new or enhanced systems or technologies, supporting clinical and non-clinical teams through changes to ways of working, and translating user and organisational requirements into successful solutions.
We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, solve complex problems, and provide specialist advice, while bringing together multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across clinical services, IT, academia, industry, and other organisations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, be comfortable managing project reporting, budgets, and risks, and have the ability to motivate and manage both directly and indirectly involved staff.

What You Will Bring To The Role
- Experienced project professional with a proven track record of delivering complex projects within structured environments, using PRINCE2 methodologies.
- Successfully led the implementation of new or enhanced systems within clinical settings, supporting both clinical and non-clinical teams through changes to established ways of working.
- Ability to balance project delivery with effective stakeholder engagement, ensuring successful outcomes and sustained adoption of change.
- Specialist knowledge of application implementation, project management, and change management, gained within a large and complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with introducing new technologies, confident in leading projects from inception through to delivery, ensuring solutions meet user requirements while supporting wider organisational objectives.
- Subject matter expert, able to provide leadership and guidance on both project management and change management approaches.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, enabling you to identify risks, overcome challenges, and deliver practical solutions in dynamic environments.
- Strong organisational abilities, allowing you to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining a focus on quality and delivery.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to build productive relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage, influence, and support colleagues at all levels.
- Thorough appreciation of local and national strategic priorities, helping you ensure projects contribute to wider healthcare transformation goals and deliver tangible benefits to patients and staff.
- Hold a PRINCE2 Foundation qualification and possess a professional or degree-level qualification, supported by evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrate a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with the drive to harness technology to improve services, processes, and patient experience across the organisation.
