On-site Project Manager – Solar EPC (UK-wide)
About Us
Akis Energy is a growing EPC contractor delivering utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects across the United Kingdom. We are expanding our team and are looking for an experienced On-site Project Manager to lead the construction and delivery of our projects from pre-construction phase/mobilisation through to energisation and handover.
The Role
As On-site Project Manager, you will be the senior site representative responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage site teams and act as the main on-site point of contact for clients, DNOs/ICPs and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day site operations for solar PV projects from mobilisation to commissioning and handover
- Plan, monitor and control the construction programme, identifying risks and taking corrective action early
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors (civils, mechanical, electrical, HV) and ensure work is performed to specification
- Champion health and safety on site, ensuring full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, RAMS and company HSE procedures
- Oversee quality control, inspections, testing and commissioning activities, and maintain accurate site documentation
- Track progress, costs, materials and resources, and report regularly to senior management and the client
- Manage change orders, site instructions and variations in coordination with the commercial team
- Liaise with clients, landowners, local authorities, DNOs/ICPs and consultants
- Coordinate grid connection works and interfaces with substation and HV contractors
- Ensure as-built documentation, O&M manuals and handover packages are complete and accurate

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
