Project Manager – Client Services
St Albans, Hertfordshire
£30,000–£40,000 DOE + Performance Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Understanding Solutions is the consulting division of the award-winning Understanding Recruitment Group.
We partner with organisations across software engineering, data and emerging technologies, delivering outcome-based technology projects through Statements of Work (SoW). Rather than simply providing resource, we work closely with our clients to deliver successful project outcomes and long-term value.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Project Manager – Client Services to take ownership of our client engagements from onboarding through to successful delivery. This is a key role within the business, acting as the link between our clients, consultants and internal teams to make sure projects stay on track, risks are managed and our clients receive an exceptional experience throughout the project lifecycle.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day management of multiple client engagements, building strong relationships while making sure projects are delivered successfully, efficiently and to a high standard.
You'll work closely with the Head of Solutions, Sales and Talent Delivery teams, bringing structure to project delivery, proactively managing risks and identifying opportunities to continually improve the way we deliver our consultancy services.
This is a varied role that combines project management, client relationship management and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day management and delivery of multiple client projects and engagements.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients and deployed consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and consultants, ensuring a consistently high level of service.
- Coordinate the onboarding of new clients and consultants, ensuring every engagement starts smoothly.
- Monitor project milestones, deliverables and overall performance to ensure projects remain on track.
- Conduct regular service reviews with clients to discuss progress, performance and any potential delivery risks.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that could impact successful project delivery.
- Manage project documentation, governance and change requests.
- Produce clear project and client reports, providing visibility of progress, risks and key actions.
- Champion our project management platform, supporting clients and consultants with best practice and adoption.
- Work closely with Sales, Talent Delivery and the wider business to ensure projects are delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships and support future business growth.
- Continuously review and improve our project and service delivery processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
