Applications are invited for the post of Project Manager within the Office of the School of Clinical Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across the Office of the School of Clinical Medicine and the external consultancy, Cambridge University Medical Education Group (CUMEG), providing high-level professional project management support. The successful candidate will ensure that complex projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with agreed aims and objectives.
The Project Manager will lead projects from initial concept through to implementation and completion. They will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, undertake research, develop project plans, and oversee delivery. This hands-on role requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to establish effective governance, documentation, processes, and communication strategies to support successful project delivery.
This is a varied and dynamic role, encompassing projects across the University as well as national and international medical education programmes. Projects are diverse and often complex, requiring a proactive and adaptable individual who is comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and delivering practical solutions.
The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Working within recognised project management best practice, the post holder will identify and manage risks, resolve issues, monitor project progress, and provide regular reports and updates to stakeholders. They will also deliver briefings and training to project teams and senior internal and external stakeholders where required.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, together with the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams. They will be comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities to meet demanding deadlines.
Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of NHS structures and/or experience of projects involving the delivery or organisation of education. Experience of leading end-to-end procurement processes, developing and contributing to business cases, reviewing and interpreting legal and contractual documentation, and managing external suppliers is highly desirable.
Applicants should have substantial project management experience, including leading projects through the full project lifecycle from concept and business case development through implementation to project closure with demonstrable hands-on involvement in delivery and change management. They will be able to select and apply appropriate project management methodologies according to the needs of individual projects and will have experience of project financial management. The successful candidate will be a critical thinker with strong analytical skills and a proven ability to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
