Purpose of the Role
The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of highway and infrastructure projects across North Lanarkshire. This role provides leadership across all aspects of project planning, delivery, commercial performance, and stakeholder management, ensuring works are completed to the required standards. The Project Manager leads direct employees and supply chain partners, drives continuous improvement, maintains strong client relationships, and ensures compliance with legislation, company policies, and contractual requirements while achieving operational and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all areas of highway works, including general highway construction works, structures schemes, environmental projects, streetlighting, and bridges.
- Responsible for health, safety, and wellbeing of direct employees and the supply chain to meet and exceed SHE targets.
- Oversee the estimating, planning, programming, and delivery of all projects across the contract via supply chain partners and direct employees.
- Manage productivity and quality of all works.
- Ensure accurate forecasts and budgets are established, and cost control procedures are in place to meet and exceed financial targets.
- Deliver monthly contract reports to the team covering SHE, operational, and financial performance.
- Work in close collaboration with North Lanarkshire Council and Partners and foster positive, open-style relationships.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, integration, continuous improvement, and the use of best practice.
- Ensure efficient and effective performance of the team to enable the team to meet performance targets.
- Ensure that the policies of the company and clients are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential Skills:
- Full UK Category B Driving Licence.
- Proven experience ensuring correct and safe practices are in place, and works are carried out as per Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Working with multiple subcontractors onsite and in-house teams.
- Ensure cost capture of all works is recorded accurately.
- Communicating with the Commercial team and Design and Construction Manager on a regular basis.
- Ability to work with supply chain members to accurately deliver projects.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of local authority highways contracts and civil engineering.
- BSc in Civil Engineering or similar disciplines.
- Detailed understanding of the highways maintenance and construction market sector.
- Understanding of how local authorities operate.
- Sound technical and commercial knowledge.
- Sound understanding of H&S and environmental legislation and best practice.
- IT literate, Word, Excel, and SharePoint skills.
